The DLSS-NR-on-AMD 0.6.0 was released on October 3, 2026, with support for RDNA 2-based Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards. The new version extends experimental Neural Rendering to a previous generation of AMD GPUs and requires the HIP SDK 7.2 runtime on these cards.

In addition, the update brings fidelity improvements for all compatible GPUs. The project remains community-driven and does not represent official support from AMD or NVIDIA.

According to the official release notes, RDNA 2 cards are now part of the list of supported GPUs. However, the environment for these cards requires an additional step: installing the AMD HIP SDK 7.2.

This happens because the current drivers for these cards provide HIP 6.4, while runtime 0.6.0 depends on HIP 7. Therefore, the project looks for the library amdhip64_7.dll via the path configured by the HIP SDK.

RX 6000 also receive flicker fixes

On the other hand, the version is not limited to RDNA 2. The changelog records fidelity and image quality improvements across all compatible GPUs.

Among the fixes, dark areas and small luminous objects no longer exhibit certain cases of flicker in pre-upscale mode. In addition, the developer reduced a slight delay in automatic exposure adaptation.

Support remains experimental

In practice, the arrival of RDNA 2 significantly expands the project's potential reach. Even so, DLSS-NR-on-AMD remains experimental and may exhibit differences in performance, stability, and compatibility across games and graphics cards.

Allves Games Allves Games has already followed the previous evolution of the project: the DLSS-NR-on-AMD 0.5.0 accelerated RX 7000. We also showed a different implementation in Vulkan, the DLSSNR-AMD on an RX 9070 XT.

Finally, the documentation emphasizes that the user needs to provide their own legitimately obtained copy of the required DLSS 5 file. The project does not distribute proprietary NVIDIA code and has no official affiliation with NVIDIA or AMD.
