The Project Shaolin Xbox, an experimental recompilation of Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks for PC, has received a second demo on October 13, 2026. The creator u/funeti posted the video on Reddit and showed comparisons with the previous stage. The project uses the version of Original Xbox and it still does not have a public download. Therefore, it is not a ready-to-play port.
According to the author, the work began on July 14th and uses the tool xboxrecomp to convert Xbox code into a native execution on Windows. Furthermore, the video shows functional changes and features in development. However, the results disclosed are tests by the creator themselves, not an independent evaluation.
Project Shaolin Xbox: what appears in the new video?
The October demonstration compares scenes before and after the improvements. The creator claims to have recorded the footage on a 1440p monitor, using Intel Core i5-12400F, 5 GB GTX 1060, DDR4 memory and an Xbox controller. He also states that the frame limit can be adjusted up to the unlimited option. This does not prove a stable FPS rate throughout the campaign.
In the first presentation, from October 11, the author had shown about three and a half minutes of menus, Versus combat and the beginning of the first stage. At that time, he mentioned approximately 40 FPS and issues with enemy spawning. Thus, the second video serves to document the evolution of the prototype, not the release of a final version.
The following material shows the visual identity of the original 2005 game. It does not represent the Project Shaolin prototype on PC.

Combat and co-op still require testing
The developer reports that they have already managed to execute combat and multi-character modes in tests. However, the full co-op campaign has not yet been validated. Furthermore, they point out pending issues with collisions, physics, optimization, and progression. Therefore, it is not possible to state that the entire game is functional.
Support for online matches and a cheat menu appear as possibilities discussed by the author. However, these features should not be presented as completed functionalities. The same applies to ideas for extra characters and texture swapping.
This project is not the PlayStation 2 MKSM Recomp
There is another initiative for the same game, but it is independent. The Allves Games has already presented the MKSM Recomp based on the PlayStation 2 edition, developed by OGmidway. Meanwhile, u/funeti's Project Shaolin starts from the Xbox version and uses xboxrecomp. Therefore, the progress and issues of one cannot be attributed to the other.
According to the creator, the original Xbox edition offers differences in textures, shadows, and audio compared to the PS2. However, these observations do not replace an independent technical comparison. The point confirmed in this article is the development of a specific recompilation of the Xbox version.
As an additional visual reference, this image presents the original game. It does not, by itself, prove graphical or performance differences between Xbox and PlayStation 2.

Is there a PC download for Project Shaolin?
There is no confirmed public installable package. The author himself states that he does not yet share binaries or game files. Thus, the video shows a private test. The xboxrecomp repository is a recompilation tool and is not equivalent to a Project Shaolin installer.
For now, those following the project should check the creator's posts and wait for a distribution announcement. Any future version will need to respect the requirements and the need for a legal copy of the game. The Allves Games has not tested the presented build.
