The Last Guardian on PC appeared in an experimental demonstration released on October 13, 2026. The person responsible for the project showed the PS4 version running game code directly on a computer, with image and audio. For now, it is a work in progress, with no public release yet.
According to the developer himself, identified as u/Fun-Entrepreneur-282, the test already allows exiting the menu and controlling the character. However, the video does not prove that the entire campaign works. Furthermore, the author has not made a repository or installer available to other users.

How is The Last Guardian on PC working?
In practice, the method is not a conventional static recompilation. Since the PS4 uses an x86-64 processor, the project executes the original code for that architecture and recreates the console's system components around it. To do this, it uses an eboot file loader, custom system libraries, and Vulkan rendering derived from the shadPS4 graphics code.
In addition, the developer leveraged previous work related to God of War III on Windows and Bloodborne. For example, the audio required implementing the Ngs2 system and fixing HE-VAG decoding. According to the report, these changes allowed for the reproduction of music, voices, footsteps, and Trico's sounds.
Test indicates 60 to 75 FPS, but there is no independent benchmark yet
The author reports approximately 60 to 75 FPS during gameplay at 1080p, while the menu reportedly reached 120 FPS. To contextualize the results, the computer used has a Ryzen 5 9600X, RTX 4070, and 32 GB of DDR5 RAM. Therefore, these numbers describe only the machine and the segment presented by the creator, not guaranteed performance on other PCs.
Despite these results, the developer states that he still needs to optimize the communication between the CPU and GPU, especially when the game queries graphics processing results. Furthermore, he reported using Claude Opus as programming assistance and performing the tests on his own hardware.

Is there a download for The Last Guardian for PC?
Not yet. Even so, the creator stated that he intends to share the project when other people are able to run it with fewer difficulties. Thus, there is no confirmed public installable package, nor any independent compatibility test. He used his own copy of the game, identified as CUSA03627, version 1.03, and does not intend to distribute proprietary files.
For now, the demo should be understood as a proof of development. To follow the progress of related projects, it is also worth checking out the recent shadPS4 fixes, which is one of the technical foundations cited by the author.
