Majora's Mask PS5 received a native port based on 2 Ship 2 Harkinian, with 4K output and interpolation configured for 60 FPS. Developer Shivam Mishra showed the result on September 30, 2026, while new information published on October 1 details installation, DualSense support, widescreen, and console-specific fixes.
The project does not emulate the Nintendo 64. It adapts the 2 Ship 2 Harkinian, a source port created from the decompilation of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, to run as a native application on a homebrew-compatible PS5. The user needs to provide their own legally acquired copy of the game to generate the necessary data.
The demonstration uses 3840 × 2160 resolution and 60 FPS interpolation by default. However, requesting 120 Hz output does not mean the game runs at 120 FPS. Furthermore, there is still no public validation of a full campaign on this port.

Majora's Mask PS5 uses 2 Ship 2 Harkinian 5.0.1
The current base is 2 Ship 2 Harkinian 5.0.1, known as Battler Bravo. This Harbour Masters project was born from the decompilation of Majora's Mask and already offers modern features on other platforms, such as higher refresh rates, widescreen, and quality-of-life improvements.
On PS5, the adaptation receives the native identifier PPSA99621. The package requests 120 Hz output when the screen allows and automatically falls back to 60 Hz when necessary. Even so, the recommended setting keeps the game's interpolation at 60 FPS.

DualSense, widescreen, and audio receive their own adjustments
The port offers DualSense support, including menu navigation. Furthermore, the HUD receives widescreen alignment by default without erasing existing custom settings.
The adaptation also fixes a specific audio issue. A legacy check of Nintendo 64 memory addresses could silence valid notes on PS5. The new code bypasses this condition to maintain correct playback.
Another change enables saving via the pause menu by default. However, the game's own security restrictions still apply during moments when Majora's Mask does not normally allow saving.

2 Ship 2 Harkinian allows for HUD changes and other modern features. This capture is from the PC port and serves as a reference for the base used by the PS5 version.
PS5 port can use Majora's Mask Reloaded
Support for alternative assets remains available. This includes Majora's Mask Reloaded, a high-definition texture pack used by the 2 Ship 2 Harkinian community.
According to the instructions released for the build, the port takes up about 200 MB without this package. The Reloaded installation may require approximately 3 GB of additional space. These numbers refer to the set described by the developer and not to the size of an official Nintendo distribution.
The game also preserves the possibility of adjustments offered by the source port. Therefore, the result goes beyond simply reproducing the original Nintendo 64 image at a higher resolution.

Installation requires a PS5 compatible with homebrew
The port is not a PlayStation Store release and does not function like a conventional commercial game. Installation requires a PS5 compatible with homebrew, as well as kstuff, ShadowMountPlus, and an active FTP server.
The user first generates the file mm.o2r from your own compatible ROM using the official PC version of 2 Ship 2 Harkinian 5.0.1. Then, this file goes into output/PPSA99621/assets/.
Next, the folder PPSA99621 needs to be transferred to the console's storage and registered by ShadowMountPlus. The instructions cite as an example the path /mnt/ext1/etaHEN/games/PPSA99621. etaHEN is not required for this specific mounting method.
The project also provides transfer helpers for Windows and Linux, although any suitable FTP client can fulfill this step. Therefore, it is not necessary to compile the port to install a ready-made release.
4K and 60 FPS still need to be interpreted with caution
The demonstration published by Mishra shows Majora's Mask in 4K with 60 FPS interpolation. This confirms the build works under the displayed conditions, but it does not equate to a full campaign benchmark.
Later reports indicate testing on a PS5 with firmware 9.00. However, a full playthrough and prolonged measurements are still needed to confirm stability in all areas. Likewise, 120 Hz video output does not prove 120 FPS.
This distinction is important because 2 Ship 2 Harkinian separates the original game logic from the interpolated presentation. Thus, a higher visual frame rate does not mean the entire internal simulation starts operating at the same frequency.
Project is a native port, not an automatic recompilation
Although the Nintendo 64 recompilation scene has grown significantly, this project follows a different path. 2 Ship 2 Harkinian derives from decompilation work and functions as a source port. The PS5 version adapts this code to the console environment.
Therefore, classifying this novelty as emulation would be incorrect. It is also not streaming, a wrapper for a PC executable, or an independent commercial version. The game runs via a binary adapted for the PS5 and uses data extracted from the user's own copy.
The port remains a community project, with no affiliation to Nintendo, Sony, or the commercial rights holders of Majora's Mask. Anyone wishing to use it must maintain a legally acquired copy of the game and a console capable of running homebrew.
Majora's Mask expands the list of native ports on PS5
The arrival of Majora's Mask accompanies another project by Shivam Mishra for Ocarina of Time. The sibling port received version 1.1.0 on October 1st, which adds camera control via the DualSense right analog stick.
In the case of Majora's Mask, the main milestone remains native execution at 3840 × 2160 with 60 FPS interpolation, DualSense support, and integration with 2 Ship 2 Harkinian features. At the same time, the available data itself recommends caution before treating performance as validated throughout the entire campaign.
