The Witcher 3 DLSS has started working again in the Xbox Play Anywhere PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered. CD Projekt RED released Patch 5.00b on October 1, 2026, to fix an issue that made NVIDIA's technology unavailable in that specific edition of the game.

The update also arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In addition to the DLSS fix on PC, the studio adjusted the lighting in various environments and applied changes to bring the console versions closer to the state already available on computers.

The Witcher 3 DLSS returns to Xbox Play Anywhere

The main fix in Patch 5.00b affects the PC edition distributed via Xbox Play Anywhere. According to the official notes, a bug caused DLSS to simply be unavailable in this version.

CD Projekt RED did not disclose the technical cause of the glitch. Therefore, there is no evidence to attribute the problem to the NVIDIA driver, the DLSS runtime, or any specific Windows component. What the changelog confirms is that the update restored the feature's availability.

This distinction also avoids generalizations. The note specifically mentions the Xbox Play Anywhere version on PC. Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and Battle.net are not listed as affected by this DLSS bug in Patch 5.00b.

Patch 5.00b also fixes lighting

The update also modifies the game's lighting. CD Projekt RED specifically mentions indoor environments that appeared too dark, alongside other general presentation adjustments.

On consoles, the studio also implemented changes aimed at maintaining greater parity with the PC version. The official patch notes do not detail each of these alterations, so it is not possible to attribute specific performance or visual quality gains to this item.

The Remastered version had already significantly expanded the graphical side of The Witcher 3. The updated edition includes improvements to textures, vegetation, lighting, rendering, and ray tracing, alongside other visual and gameplay changes.

Hotfix 5.00c already succeeds 5.00b on PC

Patch 5.00b was not the last update of the day on the computer. Later, on October 1st, CD Projekt RED released Hotfix 5.00c for Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and Xbox Play Anywhere.

This later version fixes an issue that could prevent the game from saving or loading when the Documents folder path contained special characters. The studio also resolved a bug that could make voices much quieter than other sounds after navigating through the pause menu tabs.

In addition, Hotfix 5.00c makes new visual adjustments in Velen. The list mentions Bloom, vegetation lighting, saturation, and Path Tracing lighting.

Another important change involves HairWorks. CD Projekt RED reverted a change that had caused significant performance and visual quality issues for some players with the feature enabled.

Version 5.00c also fixes the saving of marketing telemetry preferences, GOG achievements not appearing correctly after being unlocked, and a bug that prevented the Classic 1.32 version from launching.

Official DLSS fix does not mean DLSS 5 support

It is important not to confuse the Patch 5.00b fix with the Neural Rendering community tests. The Remastered offers official NVIDIA technologies, but CD Projekt RED has not announced an official integration of DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in this patch.

O Allves Games already showed separately a community test of DLSS 5 in The Witcher 3 Remastered. In this case, Neural Rendering was added by external tools and not by the game's native implementation.

We also published a guide on DLSS 5 Multipass, an experimental technique that executes neural processing multiple times over the frame. This method should also not be confused with the official DLSS fix made by CD Projekt RED.

Patch 5.00b resolves a specific glitch, while 5.00c expands the fixes

For those using The Witcher 3 Remastered via Xbox Play Anywhere on PC, the main point of Patch 5.00b is simple: DLSS, which was unavailable, has returned.

At the same time, those playing on PC should already consider Hotfix 5.00c as a subsequent update. It does not replace the importance of the DLSS fix in 5.00b, but it expands the adjustment package with fixes for saves, audio, HairWorks, lighting, achievements, and compatibility with the Classic version.
