The SharpEmu 0.0.5-nexus arrived on October 3, 2026 with a major update to the experimental PlayStation 5 emulator. The release brings CPU, memory, shader, and Vulkan improvements, alongside HDR output support and fixes tied to games such as Astro Bot, Demon's Souls and Gran Turismo 7.

The project is still in an early stage. Therefore, these changes do not imply full compatibility with the aforementioned games. The team remains focused on accuracy and infrastructure, and behavior still varies depending on the operating system, GPU, driver, and build.

SharpEmu 0.0.5-nexus advances on the graphical path

Accordingly, the official changelog logs fixes and optimizations in graphical processing. Among them are shader adjustments, GPU features, compute shaders, and fixes related to Vulkan. In addition, the update exposes support for HDR output and handles PQ buffer attributes.

On macOS, SharpEmu uses MoltenVK to translate the Vulkan path to Metal. Windows and Linux use Vulkan directly. This multi-platform support also appears in another PS5 emulation project followed by Allves Games: the KytyPS5 with Rosetta 2 and MoltenVK.

SharpEmu 0.0.5-nexus improves Astro Bot and Demon's Souls

The release includes a performance improvement targeted at Astro Bot and Demon's Souls. Another change fixes shaders from Astro Bot, Demon's Souls, Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares III Even so, the changelog does not turn these titles into fully compatible games.

This caution is important because a specific fix does not equate to a fully playable campaign from start to finish. As a comparison, Allves Games also accompanies the tests of KyTyPS5 with Demon's Souls, in which performance and compatibility need to be evaluated separately.

Gran Turismo 7 also appears in the changelog

In addition, 0.0.5-nexus brings fixes for Gran Turismo 7, accompanied by work on AvPlayer, CPU stubs, and networking. Thus, the update advances not only the renderer, but also components necessary for more complex commercial workloads.

Other changes cover POSIX memory, input, and CPU instructions. Therefore, the package represents an infrastructure update, rather than just an isolated fix for a single game.

PS5 emulator remains experimental

Finally, SharpEmu supports Windows x64, Linux x64 and macOS x64 hosts. Macs with Apple Silicon can run the x64 build via Rosetta 2, while Windows on ARM devices can rely on the system's x64 emulation. A Vulkan-compatible GPU and up-to-date drivers remain among the graphics requirements.

The project also makes it clear that it does not provide firmware, games or proprietary PlayStation assets. Therefore, testing must use copies legally obtained by the user.

Thus, the main advancement of SharpEmu 0.0.5-nexus lies in the sum of infrastructure improvements. HDR, Vulkan, shaders, CPU, memory and specific fixes expand the project, but without eliminating its experimental nature.
