The Burnout CRASH! for Xbox 360 has received an experimental native port for Windows 10 and 11. The project recompiles the PowerPC code of the Xbox Live Arcade edition for x86-64 computers, utilizing the ReXGlue framework. Additionally, update 0.1.1 makes setting up the game easier by offering an automatic configuration and compilation script.
Developer mpkonmbk released Burnout CRASH! Recompiled 0.1.1 on October 8, 2026. According to the documentation, the project already reaches the title screen, menus, and the start of matches. However, the creator himself warns that he tested the implementation on only one computer and has not yet verified the entire campaign.
Burnout CRASH! gets native Xbox 360 to PC recompilation
Burnout CRASH! Recompiled uses the ReXGlue SDK to translate Xbox 360 executable files into C++ code. Then, build tools generate a native 64-bit Windows application. Another Xbox 360 generation project is the PC port of Geometry Wars 2 Recompiled, which follows an independent development.
This way, the game can run its recompiled logic without depending on a full Xbox 360 emulator during gameplay. However, ReXGlue still provides console-equivalent services to handle graphics, audio, controllers, and other functions.
The project uses Direct3D 12 to render the graphics. Therefore, it requires a graphics card compatible with this technology.
Additionally, the implementation preserves the functionality of the original Xbox 360 game, rather than creating a completely new version of Burnout CRASH!.

The commercial game was originally released in 2011 by Electronic Arts, developed by Criterion Games. Its concept differs from traditional Burnout titles: the player views the action from above and must cause massive crashes to accumulate points.
Version 0.1.1 fixes compilation and simplifies installation
As for version 0.1.1, the main new feature is the script setup.ps1. It brings together the steps needed to prepare the environment and build the executable on the computer.
First, the script checks the requirements. Then, it requests authorization to install missing tools, such as Visual Studio Build Tools, LLVM, CMake, and Ninja.
In addition, it downloads the ReXGlue SDK and checks its integrity. Next, it verifies the user-provided game files, extracts the necessary data, and starts the compilation.
Additionally, the update fixes a bug from version 0.1.0 that prevented the compilation from completing in a freshly downloaded folder. According to the developer, the process configured the project before generating certain C++ files, which caused a linking error.
Now, the script prepares these files before the final configuration. This way, the project manages to complete a clean installation in the environment tested by the creator.
Burnout CRASH! already opens menus and starts matches on PC
According to the official README, the port already runs the intro, displays the title screen, and allows navigating the main menu. The developer also reports that they managed to start matches via the PLAY option.
Furthermore, limited tests recorded that saving works. The program stores the data in a specific folder within Documents on Windows.
However, the author has not yet confirmed a fully completed campaign. Nor have they published broad performance measurements, compatibility with different graphics cards, or prolonged stability tests.

Therefore, version 0.1.1 should be treated as an experimental port. It demonstrates that recompilation has already achieved playable functionality, but it does not yet replace a finalized and widely tested version.
Project uses two original Xbox 360 executables
On the other hand, a technical peculiarity of Burnout CRASH! lies in its internal organization. According to the developer, the game uses two main executable files: DEFAULT.XEX and CRASH.DLL.XEX.
The first contains part of the native engine. The second gathers the game logic, developed with the EASharp technology used by Electronic Arts.
To recompile both, the author needed to adjust function recognition and jump tables. The project documents approximately 140 decision structures in the second executable that required specific handling.
In addition, the developer added native functions to replace some incompatible error-tracking routines and queries to the old Xbox Live services.
Thus, these adjustments help the game progress to the menus and matches. However, other functions in the original code may still require fixes.
How does Burnout CRASH! work originally?
Burnout CRASH! adapts the franchise's well-known Crash mode into an overhead presentation. Thus, the player launches their car into traffic and tries to trigger the longest possible sequence of collisions.
The original title offers 18 intersections spread across different regions and three main modes: Road Trip, Rush Hour and Pile Up.
In addition, the player can take advantage of explosions, special vehicles, and other events to increase their score. Damage caused to cars and structures generates bonuses.

The game also offered online features, including score comparisons via Autolog. However, the original servers are no longer available, and the port does not restore these functionalities.
What are the requirements for Burnout CRASH! Recompiled?
The project requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and a Direct3D 12-compatible GPU. In addition, the user needs to provide the data from their own copy of Burnout CRASH! for Xbox 360.
The recompilation works exclusively with the Xbox Live Arcade version identified by the Title ID 58410B5D, Media ID 734ABC74 and Title Update 3.
According to the README, the installation process requires approximately 10 GB of free space if it is necessary to install all development tools. If these dependencies are already available, the additional space required is smaller.
The computer also needs sufficient memory to compile the generated code. Therefore, low-RAM machines may require adjustments to the number of simultaneous tasks.
How to download and install Burnout CRASH! Recompiled 0.1.1
The developer makes the port's source code available on GitHub. However, there is no pre-compiled game executable in the official release. The user needs to build the application locally from their own legitimate Xbox 360 content.
- Access the official Burnout CRASH! Recompiled 0.1.1 page.
- Download the release source code or clone the repository.
DOWNLOAD BURNOUT CRASH PORT WINDOWS 0.1.1 CODE
- Extract the project to a folder on your computer.
- Prepare the legitimate package of your own copy of Burnout CRASH! for Xbox 360. In the console's storage structure, the file is associated with Title ID 58410B5D.
- Open PowerShell in the project folder and check the contents of the script
setup.ps1before running it. - Run the command indicated by the developer, replacing the example path with the actual path of your file:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\setup.ps1 -Package "D:\caminho\para\seu\pacote"
- Authorize only the installations of tools that you recognize and wish to install.
- Wait for the package verification, content extraction, and recompilation process.
- After completing, open the executable
out\build\win-amd64-relwithdebinfo\burnoutcrash.exe. - Start the game and check its compatibility with your computer.
The command above uses an option that temporarily changes the PowerShell execution policy for this process. For security, check the script and its origin before running it.
Additionally, the developer recommends running the procedure again after updating the source code. The script identifies some steps already completed and can reuse previously installed components.
Burnout CRASH! Recompiled still has limitations
The port allows selecting resolution options, including 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K, via launch parameters. However, this does not mean the developer has validated all resolutions during full gameplay.
In addition, legacy online systems do not work. The project does not restore Electronic Arts servers, leaderboards, or social features associated with the original version.
Finally, the creator warns that they used artificial intelligence tools during the project's development and tested it on only one computer. Therefore, users should expect issues and report bugs using the diagnostic files generated by the application.
Burnout CRASH! Recompiled is an independent initiative, with no official affiliation with Electronic Arts, Criterion Games, or Microsoft.
