Vita3K fixes OpenGL and Vulkan glitches in games

The Vita3K received a series of fixes on October 2, 2026, aimed at the OpenGL and Vulkan backends. The changes address specific flaws in the texture cache, HLE exception handling, and uniform buffer submission, including an issue observed in Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty.

The changes are part of the ongoing development of the experimental PlayStation Vita emulator for Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android. Therefore, they do not represent a new standalone numbered version, but are included in the builds generated from the latest code.

Vita3K fixes texture cache in OpenGL

First, one of the changes makes the OpenGL backend respect the option hashless-texture-cache. Thus, when this mode is active, the graphics path correctly follows the chosen setting instead of maintaining a behavior incompatible with the option.

Additionally, another commit eliminates an excessive sequence of signals SIGSEGV in the HLE path. In practice, the fix reduces abnormal behavior that could repeatedly generate these exceptions during execution.

Vulkan receives adjustment in uniform buffers

Meanwhile, the Vulkan backend also changed. Now, Vita3K copies only the effectively mapped portion of the uniform buffers. Previously, data outside this region could remain stale and reach graphics processing.

According to the technical description of the fix, the adjustment resolves old data observed in Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty. Therefore, the focus is not to promise an overall FPS gain, but to make the content sent to the renderer more correct.

Fixes improve accuracy without promising performance

These commits are relevant because they touch on different points of rendering. However, there is no basis to conclude that all games became faster. The impact depends on the title, the chosen backend, the GPU, the driver, and the settings used.

The project itself defines Vita3K as experimental. Therefore, graphical glitches, crashes, and compatibility differences may still occur even after a fix enters the main code.

How to follow Vita3K builds

Finally, the changes enter the development flow of the official repository. Thus, those who follow recent builds should check the project history and test each game individually. Allves Games also followed the Vita3K+ 1.2 and its compatibility fixes. For emulation, use only games and files obtained from your own legally acquired copies.
