The Super Metroid in C#, a native port of Super Metroid for Windows and Android created by MrJackSpade, received updates on October 9, 2026. Version 0.4.28 consolidated fidelity and behavior fixes; shortly after, 0.4.29 updated the PC and Android packages. According to the author, the campaign can now be completed from start to finish, although minor glitches still exist.
The project translates and reimplements in C# the logic of the original Super Nintendo Super Metroid. Therefore, it is not the same recompilation as the separate port for Nintendo 3DS, nor a traditional SNES emulator that simply runs a ROM.
What the author confirmed in Super Metroid in C#
According to the , official README, the developer states that the project already reproduces movement, combat, enemies, bosses, rooms, menus, saves, audio, and progression to the end. However, this assessment is by the creator himself; Allves Games has not tested the entire campaign.
Furthermore, the release notes for version 0.4.28 and the code history document fixes for collisions, sequences, and enemies, including Kraid and Crocomire. Meanwhile, version 0.4.29, published later the same day, provides new installation files with a summarized changelog, with insufficient evidence to credit it alone for the debut of the complete campaign.

On Windows, the project uses Direct3D11 rendering with an alternative software option. On the other hand, the Android version uses the software renderer, adapted for ARM64 devices, including handheld consoles with physical controls.
How the game works without distributing a ROM
Therefore, the PC and Android versions do not include the game's original protected images, music, or data. Instead, each application requests the Super Metroid US/Japan v1.0 NTSC ROM that the user must obtain themselves from their legally acquired copy.
So, after selecting the file .smc or .sfc, the application verifies the edition, imports the necessary assets, and extracts the audio. According to the README, PAL ROMs, modified versions, and ZIP files uploaded directly to the picker are not supported.

How to download Super Metroid in C# for Windows and Android
Currently, the project provides official independent builds for both platforms. Before installing, confirm the requirements and keep a backup of your saves, especially when testing development versions.
- On Windows x64, download the ZIP package of the latest version.
DOWNLOAD UPDATED SUPER METROID PORT WINDOWS
Extract all files and runSuperMetroid.Game.exe. The release contains the required .NET runtime. - On Android 8 or higher, ARM64, download the official APK. Install from the file obtained from the official release. When updating, install the APK over the existing one to preserve data; uninstalling may erase it.
- Open the game and use Choose ROM to point to your compatible original ROM. Wait for the file extraction and then use the controls provided.
Thus, both buttons lead to stable routes of Allves Games, which resolve the latest official packages. The version found on the routes was 0.4.29, published on October 9. The files were verified via GitHub metadata; we do not perform independent installation.
What the Super Metroid port is still missing
Even so, although the author considers the campaign beatable, minor deviations from the original cartridge remain. In addition, issues regarding fidelity, boss behavior, and controller compatibility are still subject to user testing reports.
