A project called Galaxy Android has started adapting Super Mario Galaxy for Android with native execution on ARM64 devices. The OpenPort Labs initiative makes source code and documentation available on official repository. On October 14, 2026, a commit combined the disc loader, configuration interface, and game engine into a single APK project. The work is still under development and does not equate to the release of a publicly tested playable version.

The proposal uses the Petari and GalaxyQuest code reconstruction works as a reference. According to the developer's documentation, the goal is to compile the game code for Android instead of running the Wii version via traditional emulation. However, we did not perform installation, performance, or compatibility tests on real devices.

What the Super Mario Galaxy port for Android aims to offer

The README specifies Android 11 or later, ARM64 processors, and OpenGL ES 3.2 support. The documented architecture also includes AAudio audio, touch controls, and planned support for Bluetooth or USB physical controllers.

Among the described features are a touch pointer to collect Star Bits, adjustments for the position and size of virtual controls, and a horizontal field of view adapted to ultrawide screens. These functions are listed in the project's documentation; therefore, they do not yet represent an independent assessment of how they work.

The developer mentions frame rates of 60 and 120 frames per second. However, the repository does not present, in the verified sources, an independent battery of benchmarks that allows confirming these numbers on different cell phones. Thus, it is not possible to treat them as guaranteed performance.

To contextualize the settings and visual direction of Super Mario Galaxy, the image below shows Mario in the original game art. It does not demonstrate how the Android port works.

The OpenPort Labs project intends to adapt this experience to the ARM64 architecture, but still depends on verifiable public testing.

Super Mario Galaxy Android prepares integrated APK

The commit c4c902c modifies the packaging to include Java activities, installer components, and game libraries in the GalaxyAndroid.apk file. The code also starts compiling the UI classes and embedding them into the Android package.

This change represents a development advancement, but it does not prove that anyone has successfully published, installed, and executed the APK on third-party devices. Furthermore, the main README describes the unified structure, while some secondary instructions may still reflect earlier installer steps.

Is there an APK available for download?

As of the verification of this story, a public and validated installable package has not been confirmed. Therefore, there is no APK download button in this article. The repository contains instructions for developers to compile the project, but source code is not the same as a ready-to-use installer.

The project requires each user to provide their own legally obtained copy of the original Wii game. The repository does not include Super Mario Galaxy commercial data, and we do not provide ROMs or disc images.

The Wii game also features levels with motion and gravity mechanics, as shown in the screenshot below.

Therefore, images of the original game should not be confused with demonstrations of the new Android executable.

Project is different from PC ports

Galaxy Android should not be confused with Nebula 1.0 for Windows, previously reported by Allves Games. These are distinct initiatives, with different teams and platforms.

We have also already explained the progress of Super Mario Galaxy decompilation and the AstroCore project for PC. These efforts help contextualize reverse engineering, but they do not prove that the Android port has reached the same stage of development.

The next verifiable milestone will be the release of a public APK accompanied by a demonstration and reproducible tests. Until then, Galaxy Android should be viewed as an experimental native port project, not as a completed release.
