The game will be developed by the same division of Ubisoft that worked on The Division: Massive Entertainment. This fact "ends" the exclusivity agreement that LucasFilm had with EA, which since 2012 was the only game developer for the Star Wars series (with the exception of LEGO games). At the moment, the project from Ubisoft regarding the new game is in an early stage, without many details, limited only to the information about new job openings at Massive. Julian Gerighty, who directed the games The Division 2 and The Crew, will be in charge of the creative direction of the new Star Wars and the game engine used will be Massive's Snowdrop. It is undeniable that the involvement of Ubisoft in a game from the franchise is surprising, but this is just one step in the new partnerships that LucasFilm intends to close. On the 12th, for example, Bethesda announced the creation of a new AAA game for the Indiana Jones series (incidentally, after years, this will be the first game from LucasFilm that is not Star Wars). According to the vice president of Disney's games division, Sean Shoptaw, an open-world game in the Star Wars universe can provide hours of massive entertainment, and that is what is expected in the partnership between Ubisoft and LucasFilm Games.
