Resident Evil 4 is the game with the Capcom highest rating of all time, according to the website Metacritic, and has sold 7.5 million copies across various platforms. Since its release in 2005, Resident Evil 4 has been remastered many times but has never received a remake, as is being done now. According to the website VGC, since 2018, the studio M-Two leads the development of this remake, however, the company had its role significantly reduced in the project. Little is known about this company, but insiders said that Capcom funded the studio and that former PlatinumGames employees make up the team. Now the main studio for the Resident Evil franchise is leading this production, leaving M-Two, founded by Tatsuya Minami, with a smaller role in the project. M-Two contributed to the RE3 remake, with Minami as executive producer, but the studio's main goal was always to lead the next big remake, Resident Evil 4. It is believed that the disagreements that reduced M-Two's role involved the team's desire to stick to the original game's model. Such a choice was influenced by the reaction to the RE3 remake, which did not include significant parts of the original 1999 game, to the disappointment of fans. Capcom, however, prefers a remake inspired by the original, but with its own approach to features and elements not necessarily faithful to the original, like Resident Evil 2. Rumors indicate that Resident Evil 4 Remake would now be partially rebooted under the new mandate, which could have its release delayed to 2023. This type of change is not uncommon at Capcom and both Resident Evil 2 and 3 went through similar revisions during their development.
