The RAC-RS 0.5.0 arrived in November 5, 2026 and expands the unofficial port of Ratchet & Clank (2002) to PC. According to the developer AsobiCodes' official release notes, the update adds DLSS and FSR on Windows, modern menus, 35 achievements and new graphic effects. The project requires a legal, compatible copy of the game: the package does not include commercial data.
The version represents a new milestone compared to the RAC-RS 0.2.2 update already reported in Allves Games. In addition, this is RAC-RS in Rust, not the independent ReRAC project nor a traditional emulator.
RAC-RS 0.5.0 brings DLSS, FSR and more effects
To begin with, on Windows, the menu Graphics → Resolution → Upscaler now brings together FSR and NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, in addition to the off option. The author reports compatibility with Vulkan and DirectX 12. However, DLSS requires a GeForce RTX card, while the image and HUD remain subject to the selected settings.
Furthermore, with lighting set to Enhanced, controls appear for fire, volumetric smoke, metallic reflections, and Ratchet's fur. Thus, it is possible to adjust the quality of each effect, prioritizing fidelity or performance. The notes also mention aspect ratios from 4:3 to 32:9 and smoothness fixes on 120 to 240 Hz monitors, but they do not equate to an independent benchmark.
Modern menus and 35 achievements
Another important novelty is the modernized interface for the home screen, pause, maps, inventory, shop, and controls, with mouse support. At the same time, the classic PS2 look remains available as an alternative. The new 35 achievements appear in notifications and in their own tab, including in the project's launcher.
In addition, there are adjustments to the camera, aiming, quick weapon selection, and old issues with the galactic map. The frame pacing fix seeks to improve frame consistency, without promising a universal rate. In summary, the package combines new visual features and gameplay maintenance.
For example, the project offers a video demonstration associated with previous versions. It contextualizes how the RAC-RS works, but does not prove the specific effects of update 0.5.0.
How to download and install RAC-RS 0.5.0
To install, the public package was confirmed in the official release as rac-rs-0.5.0.zip for Windows. It contains the installer and the port preparation tools, and does not contain the game ISO. Follow the procedure indicated by the developer:
- Download the RAC-RS 0.5.0 installation package from the official GitHub and extract the ZIP to a folder on your computer.
- Open
Setup.cmdand click Browse to choose the ISO obtained from your own compatible media, PAL/Europe v1.00 or USA v1.00. - Wait for the installer to recognize the image and display Disc OK. Then, click on Install.
- Wait for the preparation and compilation. When it appears Ready to play, press Play.
In turn, those updating from 0.4.3 can use the game or launcher to apply the new version, keeping saves and settings. However, a full recompilation occurs again once, lasting approximately 10 to 20 minutes according to the author. On Linux x86-64, the official RAC-RS launcher offers its own workflow; the button above is for Windows.
Limitations before installing
Even so, although the developer states that the entire campaign can be played to the credits, there was no full independent test in this report. The official list still mentions minor camera and interface issues, as well as possible crashes during the initial shader compilation. Therefore, it is advisable to keep backups of your saves and check the requirements before updating.
