God of War R36S is still a development goal, not a ready game for the handheld. On October 16, 2026, the project VibeRecomp-for-GoW-CoO documented new tests of an experimental PSP emulator focused on God of War: Chains of Olympus. However, the author themselves reports that the game still lacks a correctly rendered image and is not playable.
The code is available in the Simeony2007 repository. According to the README, the proposal combines pre-translated program snippets with an interpreter for instructions not yet covered. This is not equivalent to a complete native port or a ready-to-use PSP emulator.

What has changed in the God of War project for R36S?
Development has advanced primarily in CPU, memory, and graphics testing. According to the logs published by the author, fixes in instruction interpretation allowed the test game 2048PSP advanced beyond a PNG reading error. Furthermore, one run recorded thousands of draw calls, but this count does not prove that God of War it has started working.
In another step, the project began accumulating graphic commands in the same frame prior to presentation. As a result, the 2048 test showed a visible checkered region, but not a recognizable board. Therefore, the improvement demonstrates progress in renderer diagnosis, not a playable game of 2048 or God of War.
The README describes tests for God of War: Chains of Olympus that managed to initialize components and send commands to the graphics processor. However, the window remained black or gray in the reported screenshots. The developer is still investigating vertex coordinates, textures, buffers, and the boot sequence.

Does it already work on the R36S handheld?
There is no confirmed demonstration of execution on the R36S. The author mentions the device and its ARM64 platform as a goal, but the documented compilation tests took place in a WSL/x86-64 environment. An executable generated in that environment does not automatically transform into a program compatible with the handheld.
Furthermore, the documentation acknowledges incomplete support for PSP instructions, system calls, audio, and rendering. The repository offers code and compilation scripts for development, but the public page consulted did not feature an installable release for the R36S. Therefore, there is no APK, ready-made package, or game download button to indicate at this stage.

The person responsible also states that the implementation's own code was produced with the help of artificial intelligence, including scripts and tests. This information describes the declared origin of the code and does not constitute a guarantee of compatibility, performance, or security.
It is different from another PSP God of War project
VibeRecomp should not be confused with the PSP browser God of War project already reported by Allves Games. These are independent initiatives with distinct methods, platforms, and stages.
For now, the most concrete progress lies in experimental infrastructure and homebrew testing. Even so, none of these verifications demonstrate a playable campaign of Chains of Olympus, 60 FPS on the R36S, or full hardware support. To follow future changes, check the README and repository history; anyone testing the project should use only their own legally obtained files.
