KyTyPS5 brings Demon's Souls to 40–50 FPS on RTX 5090

KyTyPS5 showed progress again in Demon's Souls Remake on September 27, 2026. A new test published by the PSXTech channel shows the game running between 40 and 50 FPS in a local emulator build, using an Intel Core i9-14900K and a GeForce RTX 5090. The result represents a new performance milestone, but does not yet prove that the entire game is playable in this range.

The test comes just weeks after the project was at much lower marks. On September 8, demonstrations showed the remake near 1 FPS; in the following days, tests advanced to 10–18 FPS and then to about 30 FPS. Now, the new recording features smoother segments, albeit in a short sample.

KyTyPS5 reaches 40–50 FPS in parts of the remake

The demonstration lasts about three minutes and covers only a few areas. Therefore, the numbers should not be treated as the average for a complete campaign. The coverage itself that documented the test points out that other regions may show different performance, in addition to possible crashes or issues not yet observed.

Another important point is the nature of the build. The version used by PSXTech is described as a fork or local compilation and is not publicly available on GitHub. Thus, the test documents the state of a build in development, and not the guaranteed performance of the current public version of KyTyPS5.

KyTyPS5 progressed rapidly during September

Recent progression helps measure the result. On September 12th, tests cited by the tech press put the remake between 10 and 18 FPS. The following day, another build reached the 30 FPS range. The new 40–50 FPS record widens this margin on high-end hardware, although standardized measurements and long tests are still lacking.

The gain must also be separated from full compatibility. High FPS in some scenes does not mean that all bosses, areas, effects, saves, and transitions work correctly. For now, the available material serves as a technical demonstration of the emulator's progress.

KyTyPS5 build used in the test is not yet public

This limitation prevents an immediate independent reproduction of the result. When an equivalent build arrives at the public repository, it will be possible to compare hardware, configurations, stability, and performance in more parts of the game. Until then, the 40–50 FPS should be attributed specifically to the tested system and the footage shown by PSXTech.

O Allves Games has already followed another recent breakthrough of the project, when KyTyPS5 gained support for macOS with Rosetta 2 and MoltenVK. The new test, however, focuses on the performance of the remake of Demon's Souls on a PC with an RTX 5090.
