Bayonetta 2 Wii U received a new experimental recompilation project for PC, presented by the developer himself on October 20, 2026. In a post on r/recomps, the author claims to have successfully played the prologue and the first chapter. However, there is still no public version available for download, and the results have not undergone independent testing.
Bayonetta 2 Wii U: what did the creator demonstrate?
According to the original report, the project uses static recompilation of the Wii U game to run code natively on the computer, rather than relying on a traditional emulator. The author claims to have used a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti and achieved 60 frames per second at up to 4K resolution during development.
These numbers describe exclusively the experience reported by the developer. Therefore, they do not prove that the port is stable on other computers, that all stages work, or that the game maintains 60 FPS during the complete campaign. The publication also does not present a minimum requirements table.
In the comments, the author showed interest in a future Linux version, after better reviewing the current build. However, this intention does not represent an available Linux version nor a confirmed schedule.
Is it the same Bayonetta 2 port for Switch?
No. The project announced on October 20 starts from the edition of Bayonetta 2 for Wii U. Meanwhile, the B2recomp, by K0NL, uses the Nintendo Switch version and has its own public repository. Therefore, the files, development stage, and results of one project should not be attributed to the other.
While the Switch-based project already makes code and build tools available, the new work on Wii U was initially presented through a post by the creator. As of this writing, no specific public repository, release, or installer has been identified for this new initiative.
As a comparison with another project with published files and version, Allves Games has already shown the recompilation of Toy Story 2 for PC. However, each project has its own requirements and maturity; this example does not indicate compatibility or performance for the new Bayonetta 2.
When will it be possible to download?
The creator expressly states that there is no public release at the moment. Therefore, there is still no confirmed installable package, nor an installation procedure that can be safely recommended. Any eventual use of the project will require files obtained from your own legitimate copy of the game, according to the guidelines the author may release in the future.
In short, the news is a promising initial demonstration, not the arrival of a finished port. New videos, technical documentation, and a first release will be needed to evaluate compatibility, requirements, and stability.
