SharpEmu PS5 expanded its compatibility list on October 6, 2026. The official database now records ASTRO's PLAYROOM reaching gameplay on Windows with build a17aaca, although performance remains heavy and only a few areas are playable.

In addition, the recent round of testing has elevated other titles to more advanced states. The project itself shows 62 games tested out of 9,176 tracked titles, with 22 reaching gameplay and 12 classified as Playable. Therefore, the progress is real, but it still represents an experimental phase for PlayStation 5 emulation.

SharpEmu PS5 brings ASTRO's PLAYROOM to gameplay

The most recent report from ASTRO's PLAYROOM uses Windows and the a17aaca build from the main branch. According to the official database, the game achieves gameplay, but with heavy performance. Even so, some areas already appear as playable, which represents a leap compared to previous tests that stopped much earlier.

It is worth separating ASTRO's PLAYROOM from Astro Bot. They are different games, although both appear in the project's recent tests. On October 6th, Astro Bot was also listed as Ingame in the same a17aaca build, with heavy performance.

New games appear as Playable on SharpEmu

In the same development phase, compatibility reports recorded titles like Hades, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC, Cult of the Lamb, SILT and Saga Of Sins in playable states in recent builds. Thus, the compatibility database is beginning to show a greater variety of games beyond the initial technical demos.

However, SharpEmu's Playable rating means the game can be completed with minor or nonexistent issues within the submitted report. It does not guarantee the same result across all hardware. Therefore, the build, operating system, GPU, and game version remain important.

Compatibility grows after version 0.0.5-nexus

The new milestone comes right after version 0.0.5-nexus, which Allves Games detailed in an article about HDR, Vulkan, and game fixes. That update tweaked shaders, CPU, memory, and graphics components. Now, reports show how part of that work translates into practice.

Another example is Demon's Souls, listed as Ingame in an October 5 build, also with heavy performance. Thus, the number of games reaching menus or gameplay is growing, but the most demanding 3D titles still make the project's early stage clear.

SharpEmu remains experimental

The SharpEmu PS5 is an open project for Windows, Linux, and macOS. The stated focus remains on accuracy and infrastructure, rather than specific fixes to quickly turn every game into fully playable.

Furthermore, the project does not distribute games or proprietary PlayStation files. For testing purposes, the user must use dumps of their own legally acquired copies. Compatibility progress, therefore, should be read as technical progress, not as a sign that PS5 emulation is already mature.

Allves Games Allves Games also follows other console emulation paths, such as the tests of KyTyPS5 with God of War: Sons of Sparta. Comparing projects requires caution because each one uses different implementations, builds, and test scenarios.
