The xrevive launcher reached version 0.1.11 on October 15, 2026, with a fix for XB Online mode save migration. Additionally, the launcher gathers ports of original Xbox games for PC and offers integration with the community service xb.live.
In practice, the novelty of this version is in the handling of save files, according to the notes from developer Teraflopping. Multiplayer debuted in version 0.1.5, on October 13, initially with Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition. Therefore, the online feature did not appear in this update.
What changes in the xrevive launcher saves
Previously, the program attempted to rename the folder XBL-Hosted. However, the antivirus or Windows search could hold this directory for a few moments. For this reason, versions 0.1.9 and 0.1.10 left the migration incomplete on some computers.
Now, when pressing Play, the xrevive launcher only copies the missing files to the game's normal save folder. Furthermore, it tries again for a short period if it encounters a temporary lock and leaves the notice MOVED-TO-SAVE-FOLDER.txt in the old folder.
According to the author, this routine does not replace existing saves nor does it delete files. Even so, check your game progress and keep a backup copy before managing old folders. The fix described in the notes is not equivalent to an independent test of all saves.
Original Xbox port launcher with its own files
The xrevive launcher acts as a library for games recompiled with Xrecomp. Thus, it downloads pre-prepared executables, organizes stable and beta versions, and allows tracking updates per game. It does not recompile the game on the user's computer.
In addition, the program includes areas for DLCs and saves, with backup, restore, and import options. The user can also add games to Steam to use features like Steam Input. However, the presence of each title and each version depends on the available catalog.
To play, you need to provide your own files, via ISO or extracted folder as required by the port. Therefore, downloading the launcher does not include ISOs or commercial game assets. The Allves Games already explained the separate Midnight Club 3 PC port project.
How xb.live integration works
xb.live is a community service for recovering the original Xbox multiplayer. Therefore, this integration does not represent Microsoft's official Xbox Live. Version 0.1.5 first opened the XB Online feature for Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, according to the project's announcement.
To link the machine, the “Link this PC” flow uses a QR code or the service's website. Next, the user logs into their account and authorizes access directly on xb.live. Thus, passwords and two-factor authentication remain on the website during this process.
The project also outlines friends, rooms, events, and leaderboards, as well as online saves separated by account. However, these features depend on the game and the service. We could not confirm matches, latency, or the compatibility of other editions of Midnight Club 3 in this investigation.
Windows and Linux have installers, but the games require attention
The release offers a Windows x64 installer and a Linux AppImage. However, the executables of the hosted games are for Windows x64. On Linux, running these games depends on Wine or Proton and remains experimental, according to the official notes.
Therefore, the existence of the AppImage does not mean that all games have gained a native Linux version. Furthermore, this release does not offer a native macOS game package. Check the requirements of each port before downloading the necessary files.
According to the post for version 0.1.11, the Windows launcher and installer feature an Authenticode signature. Meanwhile, updates use the xrevive update key. The files .sig and latest.json serve this mechanism; they are not installers.
How to download and install the xrevive launcher
- Choose the package corresponding to your system below. Both links point to version 0.1.11, verified on October 15, 2026.
- On Windows x64, run the official installer. On Linux, grant execution permission to the AppImage and open the launcher according to your distribution's configuration.
- Next, select a compatible game and provide your own files when prompted by the program. On Linux, also configure the Wine or Proton environment required by the port.
- If you want to use XB Online, link your account through the xb.live flow. Before doing so, save a copy of your current progress and check the library backup options.
