Gen2Recomped 0.8.1 was released on October 2, 2026, and significantly expands the project's experimental work with Pokémon Platinum. This version succeeds 0.8.0 and adds changes to the Pokédex, fourth-generation forms, scripts, menus, battles, and verification tools.
Gen2Recomped originated as a fork focused on Gold, Silver, and Crystal. However, the current codebase also maintains an experimental front dedicated to the fourth generation. Therefore, 0.8.1 is more relevant than the older 0.8.0 that was pending in the queue.

Gen2Recomped 0.8.1 expands the fourth-generation Pokédex
The official comparison between 0.8.0 and 0.8.1 shows major changes in Gen4Pokedex.lua, Gen4Dex.lua and new search modules. The project also added specific testing tools for Pokédex features and data.
Another important block appears in the Pokémon summary menu. The file responsible for this screen received hundreds of new lines, while the team interface and Pokétch were also expanded.
In addition, the update adds specific modules for fourth-generation forms and origin data. This creates a more structured foundation for handling differences between species, forms, and information displayed by the interface.

Scripts, battles, and events also advance
Version 0.8.1 modifies the fourth-generation script interpreter and expands available commands. The work includes events, character interaction, maps, encounters, and different automated checks.
The battle system also received changes. The comparison records changes in battle state, experience, evolution, and rendering. At the same time, the project added tests for animations, team events, and other situations that help measure parity with Platinum.
The repository also gained new parity progress documentation. This makes it clearer that fourth-generation support is still under development and should not be confused with a final or complete implementation of Pokémon Platinum.
Second screen and interface continue to receive work
The update maintains the expansion of the second screen that was already being developed. There are new tests for Pokétch touch on Android and changes to the second screen component.
The goal is to enable interfaces closer to the Nintendo DS experience on compatible devices, especially Android devices with dual displays. However, actual availability depends on the hardware and the current stage of the implementation.

Current version replaces the agenda of 0.8.0
Since 0.8.1 was released after 0.8.0 and incorporates more changes along the same technical axis, the pending article was consolidated directly into the most recent version. Thus, the text does not present 0.8.0 as latest after it has been superseded.
The Allves Games has already covered the Gen2Recomped 0.7.97 and its dual-screen editor. 0.8.1 shows that the fork continues to expand this work while simultaneously increasing its experimental focus on Pokémon Platinum.
The project relies on data extracted from copies provided by the user themselves. Therefore, it is necessary to use a legally acquired copy of the compatible games; the project does not distribute commercial ROMs.
