Support for MaliSX2 on ARMSX2 was expanded in version 2.8.3, on October 11, 2026, with new GPUs supported by the Vulkan MaliSX2 0.1.4 driver with new Mali graphics chips. Furthermore, the official release presents fixes aimed at Gran Turismo 4, background usage, and rendering issues. Therefore, the performance results released belong to the tests cited by the team and do not represent a guarantee for all mobile phones.

In addition, the update adds targeted support for Mali-G57, G68, G77, G78, and G78AE GPUs, in addition to the previously supported models. However, the driver requires a compatible Mali kernel; when it does not work, the project provides for a fallback to the standard Arm driver.

MaliSX2 on ARMSX2 reaches more GPUs

As an example, the developer cites a test by DIB1998 on a Mali-G57, in which Ace Combat 4 and 5 reportedly went from insufficient performance with the standard driver to full speed with MaliSX2. However, this report is associated with the tested configuration and does not allow for extrapolating the same numbers to all Mali variants.

In addition, there are changes to the Gran Turismo 4 graphics path to reduce stalls in GPU brightness reading, especially in night scenes and interior cameras. Furthermore, the release mentions PAL patches for trigger sensitivity, 480p output, and camera.

MaliSX2 on ARMSX2 and other fixes

According to the official notes, version 2.8.3 addresses battery consumption after leaving the application in the background, incorrect lines in games with Vulkan and Adreno GPUs, duplicate controls in arcade games, and the Conquest mode of Soul Calibur II. In turn, the project adjusts preference saving and vibration in configurations with two controllers associated with the same player.

Still, these are the maintainer's changelogs; there was no independent verification on various devices or universal FPS measurement in this package.
