A live-action Mega Man film was first announced in 2018, just days after the release of Mega Man 11. At the time, the upcoming feature film received the working title "MEGA MAN". Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman were confirmed to write and direct the film, and it was originally announced for 20th Century Fox.
Although little has been heard about the project since it was first announced, Joost and Schulman confirmed that the movie was still in development last year.
"We're super excited about it," Joost said. "I think we're going to have some big news about it soon. I can't say much right now, but it's a project very near and dear to our hearts and we're thrilled."
Netflix certainly seems like a natural home for the project, as the company has been achieving enormous success with recent adaptations of Castlevania, The Witcher, and League of Legends: Arcane.

Mega Man: Live-Action Movie Is in Production by Netflix
Mega Man is coming soon to Netflix in a live-action adaptation of the classic game by Capcom.
According to sources, the movie project is still in the early stages of development. However, it looks like the streaming giant will bring Mega Man to our screens.
Although the project has not yet been confirmed by Netflix, the production company behind the movie Supermarché let slip about the partnership during a recent website update.
"Henry, Rel and their producer Orlee-Rose Strauss maintain an active development slate," reads the official website.
"The slate's features include an adaptation of Capcom's Mega Man for Chernin Entertainment and Netflix, which they wrote and are directing."
