Gen1Recomp 0.3.48 arrived on October 2, 2026 with new fixes for the native recreation of classic Pokémon and concludes a rapid sequence of releases that also expanded the save editor and third-generation performance. The release was published at 15:20 Brasília time and replaces versions 0.3.44 to 0.3.47 released in the previous hours.

The project recreates Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal in Lua on LÖVE2D, without emulating Game Boy hardware. The player must provide their own legally acquired copy for the application to import the necessary data.

Gen1Recomp 0.3.48 fixes five issues

Version 0.3.48 closes five issues. Among them is a bug where the menu speed option was not applied to screens opened from the overworld or during battles.

In addition, the mod filter by game is working correctly again. The update also fixes a softlock in an area under the biker bridge, restores the expected Team Rocket invasion music at the Goldenrod Radio Tower, and resolves the absence of the Trick Master in the Trick House.

These changes come after an intense sequence of releases. Therefore, this draft consolidates the pending queue directly into the latest public version instead of keeping the old 0.3.43.

Recent sequence improved save editor and Gen 3

Version 0.3.44 kicked off the October 2 sequence with a save editor expansion and eight fixes. Among the resolved cases were ghosts appearing after contests, GBA ROM selection, Snorlax behavior, Dig in the Sealed Chamber, Poké Ball synchronization, stone evolution, and Surf animation.

Following that, 0.3.45 brought the second part of the save editor improvements. Version 0.3.46 added fixes and an important performance improvement in the third generation, in addition to solving an issue in Trainer ID generation.

0.3.47 tackled a specific Windows issue related to the update process. Since 0.3.48 came out shortly after, the recommended state for news coverage is the latest version, without treating intermediate builds as current.

Project also makes progress on internal tools

Code comparison since 0.3.43 shows broad changes in the save editor, including new modules for history, legality, properties, Pokémon actions, and touch controls. New automated tests for saves, mobile interface, and compatibility also appear.

In the third generation, the project added work on asset loading, map preparation, objects, and performance. This indicates the team continues expanding the infrastructure beyond Game Boy and Game Boy Color games, although each experimental feature needs to be evaluated separately before being described as full support.

Base remains important for 3D Pokémon

Although 0.3.48 is primarily a bug-fix update, engine stability directly affects mods that use Gen1Recomp as a base. Allves Games has already shown how to play classic Pokémon natively in 3D or first-person and also covered PotatoVoxel for modest PCs and mobile phones.

The project does not distribute ROMs or commercial content. Therefore, anyone wishing to use it must provide their own legally acquired copy of a compatible game.
