The Downhill Revived 0.7.9 received an update on November 3, 2026 with fixes for online races. According to the official project release on GitHub, the new version fixes the synchronization of collected items between players and camera issues for spectators of a race. Therefore, the native port of Downhill Domination, a PS2 game, requires its own copy of the original disc.
In addition, the developers made an installer and a portable version available for Windows, as well as experimental builds for Linux, macOS, and Android. However, the packages are community distributions, without endorsement from Sony or the creators of the original game. For now, Allves Games has checked the metadata of the public files, but has not performed installation or performance tests.
What changes in Downhill Revived 0.7.9?
First, the main adjustment affects multiplayer matches. Previously, the result of collecting an item could diverge among players. Now, the update strives to keep item collection synchronized during races. In addition, the version fixes an orange screen that could appear when switching the spectator after a fall.
The team also adjusted the camera to preserve the viewing distance when switching players. Therefore, this is a functional update, not a new independent port. Furthermore, to play online, all participants must use the same version 0.7.9.
Downhill Revived 0.7.9: available versions
In the release 0.7.9, GitHub lists the installer DownhillRevived-0.7.9-win-setup.exe, with approximately 17.3 MB, and a portable version DownhillRevived-0.7.9-win.zip, at around 23 MB. Besides these options, there is a Linux AppImage package and experimental versions for Macs with Apple silicon.
The experimental Android APK is called DownhillRevived-0.7.9-android-experimental.apk and is approximately 31.9 MB. However, the online mode is not available in this edition. In addition, Android requires ARM64 hardware, Vulkan compatibility, and version 11 or higher, according to the guidelines published by the project.
How to download and install on Windows
- Access official page for version 0.7.9 on GitHub.
- In the files section, choose the installer
DownhillRevived-0.7.9-win-setup.exeor the corresponding portable ZIP.
- Run the installer or extract the ZIP into a folder where you have write permission.
- Open the program and select your legitimate American disk image SCUS-97177, when prompted.
- Check the video and control settings before entering an online race.
The executables do not have a commercial digital signature. Therefore, Windows may display reputation warnings. Verify the origin and integrity of the file and do not disable your security protections to proceed.
How to install on Android?
- Open the same page of official release using your mobile browser.
- Locate the file ending in
android-experimental.apk.
- Confirm the origin of the APK and authorize installation only if you trust the developer.
- Open the application and specify your own compatible disk image when prompted.
- Test local mode first: the experimental Android version does not offer online races.
The Android edition is not an absolute novelty of update 0.7.9: the repository also provides packages from previous versions. Therefore, the current news focuses on PC multiplayer fixes and camera adjustments.
Limitations and known issues
However, the port maintains specific requirements for each platform. On Windows, the project documentation recommends a 64-bit system and a GPU compatible with Direct3D 12 or Vulkan. On Linux, the team reports the need for Vulkan and recent libraries. For macOS, the experimental versions are intended for computers with Apple silicon processors.
Among the known issues in 0.7.9, the author mentions up to about a sixtieth of a second of additional delay in offline races with rates starting at 144 FPS. It is worth noting that this value does not represent an independent measurement by Allves Games. Thus, those who prioritize input response should watch for possible differences compared to previous versions.
Does the project provide the original game?
No. The Downhill Revived 0.7.9 is a community recompilation of Downhill Domination. The download provides the program, but does not contain an ISO, protected disc files, BIOS, or the original game. As such, each user must legally obtain and extract their own copy of the compatible American edition.
